The Police Life: Series 2 to drop in November! Subscribe to stay informed.
The Police Life centers on the experiences of first responders, emphasizing the importance of humanizing, recognizing, and providing them with a platform to share their personal stories and entertain others. This perspective aims to foster understanding and respect for those who serve and protect our communities.
The Realities of Policing
Police officers and detectives across the nation regularly encounter traumatic events—sometimes repeatedly. The frequency and intensity of these experiences can vary significantly depending on their geographical location and specific assignments. Regardless of the circumstances, exposure to trauma is a common aspect of their profession.
The Power of Storytelling
Discussing difficult situations—especially those that have been bottled up, kept quiet, or only minimally addressed—can lead to healing and peace. This was evident in my own experience when I participated in the COLD podcast, which focused on the Susan Cox Powell investigation. Although I believed I had processed the events beforehand, answering a series of questions over several days allowed me to delve deeper into the case details, my feelings, and my personal experiences. This process ultimately brought a significant sense of relief.
It was this transformative experience that inspired me to start the 10-88 Podcast, providing a dedicated space for first responders to share their stories and find solace through conversation.
The Nature of Heroism
Everyone is a hero in their own way throughout life’s journey. However, not every hero is cut out to be a first responder, such as a police officer, detective, or deputy. Pursuing a career in law enforcement demands a distinct character and personality, as it requires individuals to confront challenging circumstances and make sacrifices to serve others.
